EVALUATION OF ENDURANCE OF RODS UNDER TENSION-COMPRESSION AND BENDING CONDITIONS.

摘要
A new approach to calculate strength of rods under bending and tension is reported. It is shown that the product of nominal stresses and strains is equal to the product of maximal stresses and strains on the rod surface with accuracy sufficient for practical aims. Nominal stresses and strains are determined by an ideal H-beam scheme. In strength calculations it is recommended to employ the so-called conditional Neuber stresses which are usually used to evaluate durability of notched specimens instead of conditional elastic stresses. An equation of the fatigue curve is obtained which reflects a dependence of durability on the conditional stress amplitude. The reported procedure to calculate endurance of rods can be also used for plates and shells.
