CAD/CAM systems offer unlimited memory, sharp and colorful graphics and perform all manner of tasks both drafting and computational. However, the new low-cost microprocessor systems with improved graphics, faster processing speeds, and innovation software that give three-dimensional design capabilites, are now capturing the markets dominated by bigger computers. The capabilities of these systems are examined and compared with older ones.
