摘要：
The excavation of trenches causes movement in adjacent ground which can damage nearby pipelines, roads, pavements and buildings making trenching one of the most dangerous operations in the construction industry. To reduce the risk to operatives and surrounding structures it is necessary to support trench excavations by shoring. During the last seven or eight years there have been considerable developments in the field of trench shoring and the types of equipment which are available to make this task quicker, easier, safer and more reliable. Several modern trench support methods are described.
