摘要：

This review of electronic devices used for power conversion and control covers the diode, the thyristor, the transistor and later derivatives such as the gate-turn-off thyristor. Their capability in voltage, current and switching frequency is discussed in the context of typical power circuit requirements. Today's major applications range from HVDC transmission and static compensators to electrified railways, high-current electrochemical supplies and pulsed power for fusion research.
