摘要
Some of the developments with age hardenable aluminum alloys are briefly reviewed. Several areas of current interest which are relevant to the evolution and control of microstructure in these materials are discussed. Positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS) is a powerful tool to study the role of lattice defects in the decomposition kinetics of such alloys. The annihilation process may be thought of as a chemical reaction which has a rate that is directly proportional to the local electron density.
