REVIEW OF GLASS PACKAGING STRENGTH.

Research continues throughout the international glass manufacturing community to find an economic means of improving the strength of glass containers. Here, the author identifies recent developments in the field, while emphasizing some critical aspects of 'good housekeeping' where improvements can be achieved with existing 'technology'. The tests to be considered for mechanical strength are: internal pressure resistance or bursting strength; impact strength; static or vertical load strength; resistance to scratching and abrasion.
