摘要
The study of the resistance to oxidation of the components of carbon-graphite blocks make it possible to determine methods for its regulation by the choice both of a rational component composition and of the temperature regimes of production. Samples of side blocks for aluminum electrolyzers 48-12-14-84 and the initial components used for their production: artificial graphite and thermoanthracite, and also binder coke were used in this investigation. The results obtained show that a characteristic feature of the oxidation of carbon-graphite specimens is a well-defined preferential burning away of the binder coke. A comparative analysis of the oxidizability of the components of the carbon-graphite material showed that while the resistance to oxidation of the thermoanthracite and that of the graphite did not differ appreciably, the oxidizability of the binder coke was twice that of the filler.
