Construction and exhibition city. International construction fair in Berlin 2000

The International Construction Fair Bautec 2000 will take place in Berlin on February 16-20, 2000. The Berlin Construction Fair has blossomed out as the leading regional fair for the German construction industry. For wood construction the fair is especially interesting on account of the focal points on construction systems, according to W. Mocke (Messe Berlin). Berlin is the largest construction area in Europe. The fair invites Austrian firms to participate. With the enlargement of the fairgrounds to 160,000 sq m all interests can be satisfied. For Bautec 2000, 1500 exhibitors from 35 countries are expected. Fare rates are being worked on for visitors from Austria. Wood will be heralded at the fair as a new material of construction experiencing a revival. The new German states and the countries in Eastern Europe have a potential for wood consumption. The poor East is no longer so poor and Berlin is the easternmost western city. At the last Bautec in 1998 the share of visitors from Poland, Czech republic, Hungary, Romania, and White Russia was 40%. Bautec is also of interest to the north German market. Planners from Hanover and Berlin do not attend the fair in Munich. Three halls will be dedicated to wood, wood materials of construction, doors, windows, parquet, panels, and laminated board. Also, the roof, facades, siding techniques, and energy will also be covered at Bautec 2000.
