Making ends meet

The Pangani Falls hydroelectric project in Tanzania which was inaugurated a month ago, three months after entering full commercial service was designed to replace an existing 15MW surface powerhouse which has been on operation since 1930. Considered to be the key to the fast completion of the project was a mix of commitment and co-operation among the organizations involved to achieve a shared goal. During the construction of the plant, several problems also occurred, but were all solved successfully. By the time the official opening took place, the plant has already generated US$11.5-14M in extra revenues for Tanesco.
