Some neglected aspects of pulse processing in India

A survey of pulse processing units (dal mills) in India is presented in detail with specific reference to the actually complex and major problems, viz, dal packing, storage, handling, marketing, and dal mill machinery utilization, plant layout, safety of workers, byproducts utilization etc. It highlights the present status of pulse milling industry on these accounts and brings out the priorities in this area which are useful for dal miller and worker, and consumer of dal.
