Three-dimensional Calculation of Foucault Currents in a Nonferromagnetic Solid.

A solid parallelopiped is subjected to an inductive potential vector due to an exterior electric circuit. The solid is decomposed into elementary cubes, all of the same dimension, on the faces of which the current density is assumed constant. The discretization of the Maxwell equations with regard to the current density then furnishes a linear system the unknowns of which are for each face the current density and for each cube the scalar potential at its center. The problems of impedance and of time resolution of the system are thus given as evidence of the limits of the direct and global approach to a three-dimensional problem.
