摘要
This paper describes a dependent word synchronization technique for the data transmission using cyclic codes. The relations between the type of synchronization slippage and its syndrome pattern for coset codes obtained by adding some polynomials to cyclic codes. Using these relations, the synchronization slippage can be distinguished statistically from additive errors by observing the syndromes of several successive code words. Since the authors can find the type and size of the slippage from its syndrome pattern, the synchronization error can be corrected. In this system, the upper bound for the correction capability of the synchronization slippage given by Tong can be achieved by choosing a suitable polynomial. Moreover, the authors evaluate the probability of mis-synchronization due to additive errors. As a result, it is shown that this probability can be reduced below 10** minus **1**0, while the synchronization recovery can be accomplished within about 3 to 5 words for a conventional data channel of the bit error rate of 10** minus **5.
