To prevent the formation of intercrystalline defects, conditions in which segregation is limited can be achieved by microalloying with elements forming nonmetallic phases with the dissolved impurities in the early stages of crystallization and by reducing the concentration of segregating impurities and increasing the dispersity of the dendritic structure.
