Southern California Gas Company uses incentive co-funding for three basic phases of a project's development. It establishes a staff of cogeneration account executives with special expertise to answer customer concerns. Boston Gas Company uses a free feasibility analysis of the economics of gas-fired cogeneration to interest customers in the process. Connecticut Natural Gas uses a third-party developer to provide customer assistance to prospects identified by the company. Those services include: economic analysis, financing assistance and legal advice. UGI has actively supported cogeneration for four years. Program objectives include creating a significant new market for natural gas by establishing cogen as an efficient method of using valuable energy resource. The company also focuses on cogeneration as a low-cost alternative to conventionally purchased electricity and a low-cost alternative to adding electric generating capacity.
