Normal steam temperature variations can mostly be ignored when considering life expectation due to alternating stresses. The effect on life expiration due to creep is significantly smaller than that due to constant temperature excess and is simple to compensate for by slight temperature increases. The main steam connections between the steam generator and the turbine reduce the superheated steam temperature variations by about half.
