On the algebraic multilevel preconditioning methods

Some results for the methods of algebraic multilevel iterations are surveyed. The two main classes of methods of preconditioners construction for a given matrix exists: the methods of incomplete factorization and the methods of algebraic multilevel iterations. The construction simplicity is an advantage of the methods of incomplete factorization. Algebraic multilevel preconditioning methods can be also defined with using some special embedded orderings of nodal points. There are considered the general approach to the construction of the methods, the boundaries of precondition number and calculation complexity, some applications of the preconditioning methods.
