ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OF LOCAL AUTHORITY ROADS.

There has been growing concern from professionals, elected members and the general public over the apparently deteriorating condition of the highway network in England and Wales. There are questions as to whether the national investment in maintenance is appropriate and effective and that the value for money is being obtained. In this, the first of a series of articles on the highway maintenance study, we discuss the main results on routine maintenance, with particular emphasis on good practices and benchmark costs.
