The stress solution near the crack boundary is successfully evaluated using suitable Green functions on the BEM for axisymmetric bodies with cracks. The singular character of the contact shearing stress between the stamp and the elastic medium influences the Mode III stress intensity factor for internal cracks more than for external cracks. The validity of the numerical methods was verified through characteristics examples. The accuracy of the results for KIII is demonstrated for internal and external cracks. Their interaction effects with the singularity due to the stamp are reflected as the geometric parameters are varied.
