摘要
The currents for which striations exist in inert gases and in a helium-neon mixture are studied in the range 1-15 mA and pressures in the range 1-5 torr in a discharge 200 mm long with diameter 1. 5-3. 5 mm. There are two current regions in which the striations exist; when the length of the discharge, the pressure, or the neon concentration are increased, these two regions merge. The depth of the modulation of the emission by the striations is different along the discharge in these two regions. The experimental results are interpreted on the basis of a hydrodynamic theory of the striations.
