摘要
The shape of electron-hole drops in a magnetic field is considered allowing for the principal controlling factors: surface tension, interaction with the intrinsic phonon wind, recombination magnetism, and also para- and diamagnetism of the carriers in the drop. Sufficiently small drops in a nondeformed cubic lattice are always extended along the field. With increasing size, the electron-hole drops either flatten along the field (when recombination magnetism is the predominant factor) or continue to extend (when the phonon wind is predominant). The critical drop size for these two cases is considered. Numerical calculations are made of the drop shape as a function of volume and the magnetic field. The results agree well with magnetostriction experiments on large electron-hole drops.
