Energy Saving Ingot Preheating Furnaces for Aluminum. Part II - Pusher Type Furnaces.

Generously scaled external recuperators plus related measures to reduce heat losses and improve convective heat transfer have led to a pusher-type furnace installation with a capacity of 383 t, achieving a unit power consumption below 185 kwh/t - and this with a temperature scatter of plus or minus 3 degree C throughout the charge in relation to a setpoint of 560 degree C. The furnace is capable of achieving a temperature scatter of as little as plus or minus 2 degree C.
