摘要
The feasibility of producing Ti-Ti2C composites was explored by performing thermochemical calculations on the reaction system (x + 2) Ti + C = xTi + Ti2C, which gives the operating 'excess moles-initial temperature' regime for processing these composites. Calculation results show that the excess titanium should be less than 5 moles for preparing Ti2C reinforced composite. In addition, the presence of Ti2C reinforcement leads to substantial improvement in the modulus and yield strength of the Ti composite.
