In the work reported a rotating disk method was used to examine the dissolution rate of titanium and iron in liquid copper and aluminum within the temperature range 800-1300°C. The limiting stage of dissolution of titanium in liquid metal systems based on aluminum and copper is diffusion which apparently is arrested on the phase boundary by a barrier containing carbon.
