The mechanisms of coal transition into plastic state during the heating of coals of various degree of metamorphism and solidification of coal plastic mass are established. It is shown that the first process is described by the first-order equation, whereas the second process corresponds to zero-order equation, the rate constants being the maximum for gas coal. The data obtained allow to control the process of continuous coking using the difference in temperatures of beginning of coal transition and solidification processes.
