For a reliable control of many combustion and gasifying processes it may be necessary to know exactly the oxygen content of the used fuels. In this report some results of a large number of analysis are presented besides the method for determination of the oxygen content with a modified automatic analyser. For the different analysed coals it has been found that the normally used mathematical methods do not enable to calculate the 'true' oxygen content. The reported method however offers the possibility for automatic determination of the real oxygen content of solid fuels at reaction temperatures between 900 degree C and 2400 degree C within a few minutes.
