A survey commissioned by the State of North Rhine Westphalia, represented by the Government President at Detmold, investigated to what extent a district heating pipeline, from the joint power plant Weser at Porta-Westfalica/Veltheim, could economically supply the existing district heating network in Bielefeld as well as other easily accessible communities in the region of East Westphalia/Lippe. The results of this survey, which were published end of 1985/early 1986, are presented and explained by the authors. The conclusion of the survey is, that under certain conditions, a district heat line East Westphalia-Lippe can indeed be economical.
