摘要
Current wireless local area network (WLAN) technologies allow cheap deployment of broadband wireless networks for mobile Internet or Intranet access. Wireless device connections are short range and mainly used by devices like mobile phones and PDAs. Wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi), a trademark promoted by the wireless Ethernet compatibility alliance to certify interoperability of IEEE 802.11 products and to promote Wi-Fi as the global WLAN standard across all market segments was analyzed. Offering services for mobile Internet based on WLAN in public areas profits from the license-free frequency band and cheap consumer products forming a de-facto standard.
