Human settlement environmental problems and countermeasures in the northwest region of Yunnan province

To explore the main problems of the northwest region of Yunnan province, and to bring forward strategic planning countermeasures, the ecologic-environmental status of the northwest region of Yunnan province is analyzed and assessed by integrating qualitative analysis method and quantitative assessment method. The main environmental problems of this region are: (1) urban environmental quality is deteriorating and the trend is disconcerting; (2) ecologic-environmental crisis is getting more and more serious; (3) the efforts made on environmental protection is far from the requirement. The protection of ecologic-environment and bio-diversity and culture-diversity of the northwest region of Yunnan province may greatly affect the social and economical development and ecologic-environmental protection of its downstream. To solve these problems, mass work should be done, such as enhancing people's environmental consciousness, improving environmental management and increasing environmental protection investment.
