Relevant trends in programs for three-dimensional numerical analysis of magnetic fields, including eddy-current effects, within the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and at international workshops, are examined. The results of studies performed by the authors on models for the comparison and evaluation of software packages from different countries are described.
