摘要
Verdant Power, an energy company based in Arlington, Virgina, plans to attach six large turbines with 5m-diameter blades to concrete piles resting on the riverbed, at about 10m depth. Ocean thermal energy, which uses the difference in temperature between near surface and deep-ocean waters to generate power is used to harness energy from the oceans. In the Bristol Channel in southwest England, Marine Current Turbines Ltd has placed a pilot single-rotor turbine from which an average power of 100kW and peak power of about 300kW can be obtained. Marine Current Turbines has developed a new generation of twin rotor units with the potential to generate IMW, depending on the tidal flow and its units will be arrayed in farms.
