摘要
This paper reviews the extent to which a 43,000 tonne deadweight bulk carrier can accommodate a variety of draught (displacement) and trim conditions to suit the prevailing weather by controlling water ballast, and the economic performance of the ship in these conditions, including the influence of larger diameter propellers. An analysis is also presented for an 18,000 dwt general cargo ship for calm weather, including part load conditions. Some alternative design features of oil product tankers are also reviewed, which are subject to IMO segregated ballast requirements.
