Discussion of the concepts of elevator control panel design. The control equipment includes a control panel together with the auxiliary electro-mechanical devices, such as the drive motor, limit switches, etc. This equipment costs approximately 10% of the total value of an average elevator. But primary considerations for the control panel and system are in addition to cost - safety, reliability and ease of maintenance. The design aspects and suppliers' responsibilities are analysed from various points of view.
