Microchip makers target mid-year recovery

Since the beginning of the year, the Japanese semiconductor market has followed the same pattern seen from the middle of 1990, with sagging memory market sectors and vigorous microcomputer and ASIC market segments. In January, industry analysts predicted recovery in semiconductor demand would begin in the middle of the year, rising toward the anticipated peak in the silicon cycle in 1992.
