Raising the Efficiency of Evacuating the Corrosion Products from the Primary Coolant Circuits of Water-Moderated Reactors (VVR) by Standard Decontaminating Filters

Changes in the hydrodynamic and thermodynamic properties of the coolant are proved to cause dumping of the loose corrosion products from the surfaces of the primary circuit equipment. A dependence of the sedimentation constant on the ammonia concentration in the coolant is found. Conditions for evacuating most of the corrosion products by means of decontaminating filters after their separation from the surfaces are determined. A process is proposed for evacuating the corrosion products by means of decontaminating filters during the downtime for maintenance at the nuclear power installation.
