Sustainable use of water in Croatia and in Europe

The use of water in Croatia and in Europe is analyzed. Factors influencing water resources and various adverse actions originating from urban areas, industry, agriculture, etc., are described. An interdisciplinary procedure for identifying, analyzing and estimating processes that define current and future condition of water resources, is applied in the paper. The author cautions that water must be used prudently and efficiently and that the correct water management will result in notable positive environmental effects.
