Ten years ago the Lynx was still in development and Westland did not manufacture a commercial helicopter. Today the Lynx, which has been in production for several years, is operated throughout the world while the upgraded Lynx 3 made its first flight in June; the Westland 30 has entered the commercial market and has quickly taken its place as the leading medium commuter helicopter; and Westland and Agusta have teamed up and begun the development of the EH-101 naval and commercial medium helicopter. These programs and future plans are the result of a great deal of research and development that has pushed Westland to the front of many technological areas, including blade design, cockpit design and transmission design and monitoring.
