A generalized, physical model has been developed to calculate deformations in both reinforced and prestressed concrete structures loaded in bending. It takes into account clearly and completely the effects of cracking, creep and shrinkage of the concrete. Design diagrams have been drawn up for practical applications, which permit a rapid estimation of both short and long term deflections.
