Thermal Rating of an Absorption Heat Pump.

The law of the conservation of mass and energy, is generally taken into account in giving data on the service load of a boiler, its heat release rate, the heat requirement of a building and in calculating the efficiency of heat transfer. In assessing the heat release rate, however, the outside temperature is of decisive importance and it is therefore necessary to perform a more exact calculation taking into account the second law of thermodynamics. For the purpose of applying the second law of thermodynamics to an engineering problem, the new concepts exergy and anergy are defined. The rating of the absorption heat pump therefore includes energetic as well as exergetic evaluations.
