Twin bridges over the Mentue river in Switzerland

The most complex problems, those that most influenced the design of these two works, were the breadth of the valley bottom, the low bearing capacity of the foundation soil, the area's morphology - which demanded a horizontally curved route - and the need to minimize the structures' impact on the landscape. The result of the project is of great structural and stylistic value: the two r.c. structures, which have a total length of some 600 m, cross the valley with particular elegance, owing to the slender structures of their deck and piers.
