In order to put some flexibility into a single hearing instrument, engineers at Siemens Hearing Instruments developed the first multichannel, multi-program hearing aid. Called the Triton, the new instrument's three channels compensate for hearing loss in three different frequency bands. With its four programs, the Triton also lets users change its frequency response to suit their surroundings.
