EXTERIOR INSULATION: THE MONEY SAVING RETROFIT.

Exterior insulation can be applied during original construction or as a retrofit measure over almost any sound substrate. The retrofit application of exterior insulation to concrete roofs and concrete or masonry walls has many advantages over internal insulation systems. Some of these advantages are that no interior space is lost, there is minimum disruption to the building occupants during installation and a reduction in energy used for heating and cooling. Care needs to be exercised in selecting the components of an exterior insulation system. The insulation itself, the fastening system and exterior covering of the system all must perform well for the system to be successful.
