Dispersions of synthetic mixtures of coal and bentonite in tap-water were flocculated with different flocculants. Using water glass as a dispersant the precipitate appeared to be enriched in coal, a starch based flocculant giving the test results. The enrichment depended on the compositions of the mixtures.
