During the determination of air conditioning in ships a number of factors is decisive in the choice of plant. It must be decided whether a low pressure system or a high velocity system is required, if high-velocity systems are to be one-pipe systems with re-heating or two-pipe systems, if they are to be manually or thermostatically operated, if the heating medium is to be steam, water or electricity, if re-circulation or humidification is required and many other factors. As a guide to the choice of plant the advantages and disadvantages of the various types of plant generally used are described.
