On the performance of electronic ballast fluorescent lamp systems

摘要
The performance of nine electronic ballasts is described in this article in terms of energy efficiency and power quality. Comparison of performance is also made with reference to an energy efficient electromagnetic ballast. An integrating sphere was used for the measurement of light output and during the measurements the temperature inside the sphere was maintained at 25 ° ± 1 °C to give a more accurate comparison of the light output and efficacy. A power harmonics analyzer was used for the measurement of electrical characteristics. Most of the electronic ballasts tested achieved superior performance both in energy efficiency and power quality.
