Experimental and numerical study on the clocking effect of static blade in a low-speed compressor

Clocking effect in a low-speed compressor was studied by means of 2D and 3D unsteady numerical simulations. By comparing the results of numerical simulation and experimentation, it is found that the clocking effect of static blade was well predicted at some degree. The relative fluctuations of efficiency are: 0.51% for 2D simulation, 0.42% for 3D simulation, both less than the result of experimentation(1.1%). The Clocking phasic angle was predicted well in 2D simulation, but there are some differences in the results of 3D simulation and experimentation. The negative eject theory is employed to explain the phenomena that the wake over-turn is due to large numerical viscosity.
