Quality Improvement of Continuously Cast Billet by Combination Electromagnetic Stirring (Kosmostir-Magnetogyr Process).

摘要
Three electromagnetic stirrers including an in-mold stirrer were installed in a curved type billet continuous casting machine and the effects of stirring on the quality of plain carbon steels and low alloy steels were investigated. Blowholes and inclusions at the subsurface were reduced by in-mold stirring. The in-mold stirring had a good effect on the formation of an equiaxed region. Combination stirring improved centerline segregation.
