Detailed investigations of four oil deposits in Orenburg region constituting a part of the Volga-Urals petroliferous province have been carried out to determine the prospects of oil recovery from carbonate reservoirs. It is found that the productive part of the Lower and Middle Carboniferous series consists of alternating continuous and intermittent reservoir strata. The main reserves of oil are connected with the homogeneous and continuous reservoir strata (up to 95% of the total).
