Practical fiber-optic Bragg grating strain gauge system

摘要
A presentation is given of a fiber-optic strain gauge which provides an accurate measurement of static and dynamic strains. The device discussed consists of a Bragg grating-based strain sensor system. The authors consider this system to be superior than sinusoidal-response interferometric, polarimeteric, or modal domain sensors. The Bragg grating strain sensitivity is described, asa well as the passive wavelength demodulation system. Finally a test was conducted to evaluate the performance of the strain gage system.
