Between Painting and Assembly Centrally Controlled High-Bay Warehouse for Car Bodies.

A better solution was sought to replace the existing method of storing the painted car bodies outdoors before assembly. The best means of meeting the requirements was with a high-bay warehouse operated from a central control stand. It is also possible to connect the control system to a process computer and to integrate it directly into the production control system. The material flow, the technical equipment, and the nature of the control system are explained. The number of car bodies that can be accommodated in the warehouse, which is almost 20 meters high, is 620. The bodies are withdrawn and led to the assembly lines by means of an identifications system that is coded according to production requirements.
