Shaping Possibilities in the Manufacture of Rolled-Shaped Wire.

There are various methods available for the production of shaped wire, the most expensive and time-consuming being the drawing of the wire through draw dies or drawing plates. Limitations are imposed by this method with regard to the drawing force and the drawing speed. The method of cold-rolling on the so-called roller stands generally insures generally superior results. This method is used predominantly in the production of flat sections. Cross-sections of complicated or asymmetric form are preferably drawn on nondriven roller stands. 6 refs.
